Elephants the
most celebrated animal of Sri Lankan wild
life is not the only animal that crowd the
jungles of the Island. In fact we have 92
species of mammals including the big three-
The Elephant, the Leopard and the Sloth
Bear, here in this tiny isle. The wild life
is so diverse that there is so much to see.
Sri Lanka is one of the best places in the
world to see the elusive Leopard, where in
Yala National Park it is reported to be the
highest in terms of the number of Leopards
per square KM. The Sloth Bear could be
encountered at Wasgamuwa National Park You
wake up to the sound of music of birds and
calls of mating of Peacocks. You hear the
distant growl of the Leopard so |

elusive and jump
into a jeep with trackers and guides to
catch a glimpse of all the wild beasts with
the heavy smell of dust in your nostrils.
Maybe you will see a lone leopard, a sloth
bear, a Python and a Crocodile… yes today is
your lucky day. You capture Mother Nature in
your camera to show off other tourists at
the bar in the evening – and those back at
home. As the shadows become longer and the
day cooler, the wild Elephants come out to
the water holes. Yes you were born free and
born wild so come on to the wild side.
